Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)
Our Programs
Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)
Access to clean water and proper sanitation is essential for health and dignity. ADHA implements WASH programs that provide safe drinking water, improve hygiene practices, and promote community-led sanitation solutions.
Our Objectives
- Expand access to safe water: Construction and rehabilitation of boreholes, shallow wells, rainwater harvesting systems, and piped water schemes.
- Improve sanitation infrastructure: Building ventilated improved pit (VIP) latrines, promoting household toilets, and supporting school and health facility sanitation.
- Hygiene behavior change: Promoting handwashing with soap, menstrual hygiene management, food hygiene, and safe water handling through community-led campaigns.
- Institutional WASH: Supporting schools, health centers, and marketplaces with gender-sensitive WASH facilities, water access points, and hygiene education.
- Strengthen community systems: Training and supporting Water User Committees, sanitation champions, and artisans for maintenance and sustainability of WASH facilities.
